TRAINING DESCRIPTION

Winter Training will prioritize the development of motor skills, coordination and teaching athletes the sport of volleyball. Practices will be structured in a fast-paced, fun and positive learning environment.   

All practices will be led by TPV Master Coaches and structured to allow growth and progression in ALL skills for any athlete from beginners to returners! No previous experience is needed!  


NEW FORMAT FOR WINTER SESSION

Athletes will train 1x a week and then compete the same evening. We want our athletes to be able to put their training directly into various competition settings. Competition will be used as a compliment to the training that all athletes received earlier in practice.   

The first week of  the Winter program will be used to evaluate all athletes and place them on teams that are appropriate for their development. A TPV coach will be assigned to each team and will train the team in accordance with the TPV practice plan.


TRAINING DATES

Monday, January 13th - Monday, March 9th
**There will not be training on Monday, February 17th (President's Day)**  

TRAINING TIMES

Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm

Athletes will Train from 5:00-6:15 and then Compete from 6:15-7:00   


TRAINING GROUPS:
   
Athletes will be grouped by age and ability!
  
Level 1: 3rd and 4th Grade  

Level 2: 5th and 6th Grade  

Level 3: 7th and 8th Grade

TPV Jrs. Level 1 - 3rd and 4th Grade (Co-Ed)

Players at this age level begin to develop and build the foundational skills for volleyball. We will focus and prioritize underhand passing, setting, attack and serving. We want to provide all athletes with high-level technical instruction along with high quality repetition. Competition will be formatted in a 4 v 4 setting to allow players to learn the fundamentals of the game, movement skills, and to play every position. We want all players to be well-versed in each skill and to avoid any early specialization. 

TPV Jrs. Level 2 - 5th and 6th Grade (Co-Ed)

We want to implement repetitive skill training at this age level to help reinforce and develop muscle memory. We want all athletes to be able to execute and repeat skills at a high level. Competition will be formatted in a 6 v 6 setting to allow players to work on the mastery of their skill sets.  

TPV Jrs. Level 3 - 7th and 8th Grade (Girls)

Our goal is to continue teaching and training the technical consistency and execution of all skills in practice and game scenarios. Competition will be formatted in a 6 v 6 setting to allow players to work on execution of their skills and improving their tactical volleyball knowledge.
