2021 14th Annual Vernon Hills Silver Star Wood Bat "A-Team" & "B-Team" Tournament (6/10/21 - 6/13/21)
Come to Vernon Hills to play at one of the best baseball facilities in the Midwest. Each age group will have an "A-Team" & "B-Team" division and play pool and bracket play will be played only against your division (i.e. A-Teams vs. A-Teams & B-Teams vs. B-Teams) with a three game guarantee. We are limiting the number of teams at each age group to 8 or 10 total teams (4 or 5 per A & B division) including teams from the Vernon Hills travel program. In order for registrations to be considered complete payment must be turned in within 7 days of registration. Registrations and payment will be processed based on the order in which online registrations are completed. If we receive more interest than the 8 or 10 spots (4 or 5 per A & B division) available at a particular age group we will start a wait list. NOTE: This tournament is open to community based/club first tier travel programs (i.e. "A-Teams") or towns sharing the same high school playing in an "A" league and community/club based second tier travel programs (i.e "B-Teams") or towns sharing the same high school playing in a "B" league. No elite teams will be allowed. Each team entering the tournament as a "B-Team" will be required to provide evidence if requested that they are a true "B-Team" (i.e. play in LSFBL or MSBL "B" league divisions or are second level club teams that play other area "B-Team" programs). The Silver Start provides the best competitive play to area towns and border states that run community-based programs. Please click on the documents button below for the tournament rules. By registering for our tournament you are agreeing with the rules that have been presented.
Guaranteed 3 games
- Individual Trophies for 1st and 2nd place teams ( max 12)
- The fields have dugouts, (most) grass infields, scoreboards and lights.
- Certified umpires officiate each game.
- Onsite restrooms
- Tournament game schedule posted no later than 4 days before start of the tournament.
- Please bring copies of birth certificates for your roster. They will be reviewed if a discrepancy exists. Upon request, teams must prove they are not an elite team or they will not be allowed to advance to the playoffs.
- Coaches must provide waivers and rosters a minimum of a week prior to the start of the tournament.
- No charge for admission. Spectators will not be allowed to sit directly behind backstops.
- All games will be played at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex.
- A coin toss will be used to determine the home and visiting team for pool play games. For elimination games the higher seed will be the home team.
- The home team must provide a scoreboard operator.
- Tournament Central will be located at the gazebo by fields 1-4.
- Updated tournament results and weather updates will be handled through Tourney Machine.
- All tournament correspondence will be done via Tourney Machine app. Please instruct parents to download the tourney machine app.
- Trophy Presentation will take place after the championship game on the field.
- There will be daily NO concessions available. Please bring your own food/non-alcoholic drinks.
- No Smoking
- No Dogs
- The tournament committee reserves the right to allow "B-Teams" to play up in the "A-Teams" division.
- The tournament committee reserves the right to enforce additional rules at the time of the tournament depending on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic or other public health restrictions.
- 8U DIVISION WILL PLAY WITH TRADITIONAL ALUMINUM BATS

Refund Policy:
If tourney is canceled for any reason before any of the games have been played, then a FULL refund will be issued minus a $25 service fee. If only one game is started, then a $200 refund will be issued. If two or more games are started, no refunds will be issued for any reason.


Note: If any team withdraws after registration has been confirmed and payment has been made no refund will be given.

Policy Regarding Public Health Issues such as COVID-19: The tournament committee reserves the right to reschedule/postpone this tournament due to public health restrictions such as COVID-19. If this happens, the committee will do its best to reschedule your team into the new tournament date or move you to a different tournament that better aligns with your schedule. If no new tournament/date can be worked out we will offer you a credit for a future tournament or a full refund minus a $25 service fee. We will do our best to avoid this at all costs, however this is outside of our ultimate control.

8U will play with traditional aluminum bats.
